I am an Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurial Finance at IE Business School. Before joining IE, I obtained a joint-PhD in Finance from Tilburg University and Business Economics from Ghent University and was a visiting scholar at Columbia Business School.

I work at the intersection of finance, entrepreneurship, and strategy. My research asks how ownership identity and governance shape strategy, and in particular, how that identity determines which stakeholders bear the resulting risks and rewards. This plays out across two pillars:

1. Ownership identity and strategy. How does the identity of a firm's owner, whether family, venture capital, private equity, or family office, shape the strategic choices it makes, and who inside or around the firm absorbs the consequences? This includes work on family firms, where I study how a different objective function (beyond profit maximization) shapes strategic decisions and stakeholder outcomes.

2. Entrepreneurial governance and strategy. How do the people who hold power in a venture, investors and founding teams, shape its strategic trajectory, and how well do investors' stated bets on founders hold up once tested? This spans the investor side (venture capital's selection and value-add decisions) and the founding-team side (how founder composition shapes entrepreneurial strategy).
